This heavy-duty 304 Grade Stainless Steel Hinge set has the following attributes:
1) It is adjustable to off-set problems associated with potential gate sag.
2) It has a twin set of S.S. springs to allow it automatically close the gate.
3) It has twelve attachment points strategically located,
50% on post & 50% on gate frame, to create a durable connection to both.
4) It comes in a Marine Grade Powder Coated Finish of Black or White.
5) It is stamped out of 45% thicker stock than our competitors.

Best of all the size is 3.5" x 3.5" x 3.5" on long "L" side for post and then
3.5" x 3.5" x 1.5" on short "L" side for the gate attachment. This allows it to look appropriate in scale on picket fences as well as on privacy fences. It is definitely strong enough for any vinyl swing gate application. This minimizes size variation and extra inventory problems by stocking and selling three or four size hinges that do the same job.
Better, more streamlined inventory means more profit to dealers and contractors. It also allows us to build a better hinge at a more competitive price.

In the world of P.V.C. gate hardware most manufacturers focus on strength, durability and ease of use. In order to build "the most durable hardware at the maximum value" we have to understand what has been built before. This allows use to (hopefully) build a better mouse-trap.
Non-Corrosive materials have been the main material of choice. Most companies choose Stainless Steel. The big boys from down under, D&D Technologies, have decided to use a high strength polymer as the main component of a very successful line of hinges and latches.
They have also done a fantastic job with thier marketing of these fairly expensive products. More companies have chosen to utilize S.S. than high strength polymers. We chose to utilize a 304 Grade Stainless Steel with a powder coated finish in Black or White.

My name is Darrin Jones, I publish this blog. My day job is to sell hardware in the fence industry. My family has been fencing since I was 2 years old.
I live in Alabama and travel all over the U.S. on my job.
My wife Cheri travels with me sometime, but not enough to suit me. We have been full-time live aboards and cruisers. That has been a few years back.
We just got back from Old Mexico where we went to study Spanish. It is good to be back at work, I look forward to showing our products to as many people as possible this year.

Broken or Amputated Fingers from No Safety Covers

The Whole Idea behind these integrated Safety Covers are to prevent accidents.

This is not, I repeat- NOT a severe injury from a close encounter with a cantilever roller, it is a minor one.

A Remedy to Our First Approach

The first series had failures... in Plain English, some of them broke. This simply would not do. We immediately recalled all 1st generation wheels and assemblies. The next step was to find out why they broke.
We had reverse engineered (copied) a leading competitors product concerning the wheel dimensions and material used. This was where the problem was, if we had designed from scratch this would have been avoided. The material used was Nylon 66 and the dimensions were designed to accomodate 2-3/8" o.d. or 2.375"pipe on the gate frame.
The solution was to use a new polymer compound and to increase the accomodating diameter to a full 2.5"o.d. pipe. While we were in the mode of improving the product, we increased the sealed bearing sets to 6205-2RS to increase the dynamic and static load ratings by 25%. This paired with pre-testing each wheel prior to assembly has eliminated all failures of these wheels to my knowledge. We have not had a request for warranty replacement since the new design of the JFC-400+. (it is simple to tell if a roller is 1st generation our the revised version, the safety covers of the top rollers of the revised model have Dura_max proudly displayed where the 1st generation does not.)
This pre-freezing of wheels to -30 degrees centigrade for 24 hours then compressing with2.5" solid bar stock to 6600 p.s.i. shows that the new wheel is practically a bullet-proof design.
